Read the Q&A with Dr. Schiebler below to learn more about his time at UW–Madison.

Why did you decide to pursue a career in radiology? Was there a specific moment that sparked your interest?
I enjoyed working with Terry Hudson, MD and William F. Enneking, MD at the University of Florida on bone tumor Rad-Path correlation.

What initially drew you to UW–Madison?
The weather! Not really. The opportunity to work with the excellent team here at UW-Madison.

What are some of the significant changes you’ve seen in radiology during your career?
Artificial intelligence is the most significant change. This will need to be carefully integrated into the reading paradigm we now use.

Looking back at your career, what are some of your proudest moments?
Being able to teach and be around great people is the most singular item. Also, working with Pulmonary Medicine on a few research projects has been fun.

What are some of your fondest memories of working at UW?
The Chest and the Cardiac MRI reading rooms have been a wonderful place to work. This is the best job that I have ever had.

What advice would you give to young radiologists?
Play the long game. This is a terrific program and Radiology is a fantastic specialty. Have fun!

Is there anything else you’d like to share?
I wish to thank all of you. Susan and I have been so lucky to be in a great city and academic environment for these 19 years.

Wishing that you all have the wind be at your backs and smooth sailing in the future.
