Research Services
The UW Department of Radiology has expertise in many research areas, and we are ready to work with you to provide resources and support that will make your research stronger.

Research Scan Overreads
The Department of Radiology Research Overreads service is available to all researchers on campus who include imaging as part of their study.
Our radiologists review research scans identified by each lab and provide a general assessment, as well as initiating further discussions for unintended clinical findings.
To log in, users must have a public Department of Radiology account, with additional privileges granted for research overreads.
Research Image Requests
Using the Department of Radiology Image Requests service, researchers from across campus can place requests for limited-data and fully deidentified research images for a small fee.

We ask that you download and complete the data template for research image requests spreadsheet prior to completing the request form when possible. Please also have any IRB approval and a blank patient consent form for your study ready to upload when completing the request (when applicable)
Data Template for Research Image Requests
If you do not have all the information required to submit the research image request, you will be allowed to save the form and come back to it later. A return code is *required* to continue the survey where you left off. Please write down the value of the return code provided when choosing “Save & Return Later”.
Please contact Radius via email at Radius@rad.wisc.edu with any questions.
Medical Imaging Research Support (MIRS)
The UW Department of Radiology Medical Imaging Research Support (MIRS) provides assistance to UW research teams interested in using medical imaging as an outcome measure. Services include imaging-specific advice with respect to protocol development, imaging manual creation, regulatory requirements, nursing and study coordination, budget, and the use of well-validated image analysis.
