Faculty Spotlight: Austin Webs
Austin Webs, DO, MBA joined the Division of Community Radiology and the Section of Breast Imaging and Intervention as clinical assistant professor in July 2026.
He earned his doctor of osteopathic medicine and master of business administration degrees from Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate, Tennessee. Dr. Webs completed his diagnostic radiology residency at the University of Minnesota, followed by a breast imaging and intervention fellowship with the UW Department of Radiology before joining the faculty.
Where are you from?
Western Kansas.
Why did you choose radiology?
I found breast radiology to be a natural fit because it combines imaging expertise, procedural skills, and meaningful patient interaction. I value being part of a multidisciplinary team and helping patients navigate what can be an uncertain and stressful time. I am also drawn to the field’s constant evolution, as advances in technology and medicine provide ongoing opportunities to learn and improve the care we provide.
What are your professional interests?
My professional interests center on providing high-quality breast imaging interpretation as well as sonographic and stereotactic procedures. I strive to improve patient outcomes by staying current with advancing imaging technology and clinical guidelines as they continue to evolve.
Why did you choose to work at UW–Madison?
My decision to join UW–Madison was strongly influenced by my fellowship experience. I was drawn to the department’s supportive, collaborative culture, strong mentorship, and excellent leadership. I particularly value the team-oriented approach within breast imaging, where everyone’s perspective is respected. I also appreciate UW–Madison’s commitment to bringing high-quality, innovative care to the broader community.
What are your hobbies?
I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling, and competitive running. The Chicago Marathon and Boston Marathon have been my favorite races to compete in.
