UW Health Kids interventional radiology suite aims to enhance patient care

A new, state-of-the-art imaging suite dedicated to interventional radiology at American Family Children’s Hospital will enhance patient care, increase the number of interventional radiology procedures annually, and be used for research.

The UW Health Kids suite uses Allia Moveo, an image-guiding solution that was developed by GE HealthCare. Globally, it is the fourth suite of its kind being used for patient care and the first implementation for pediatric interventional radiology.

“Our care team supports all kinds of patients, from those with vascular disorders to those with cancer, performing a wide range of procedures and interventions such as placing catheters, performing biopsies and more,” Eric Monroe, MD said. “This new space is going to enable us to perform all these vital services for so many more patients moving forward.”

Eric Monroe, MD said the new pediatric interventional radiology suite will give surgeons more capacity for patients who need their specific expertise and the operative environment.
