Amy Fowler, MD, PhD

Dr. Amy Fowler is an associate professor (tenure) in the Breast Imaging and Intervention Section of the Department of Radiology. She holds an affiliate appointment in the Department of Medical Physics. She received undergraduate degrees in electrical engineering and biology from South Dakota State University. She is a graduate of the Medical Scientist Training Program at the University of Wisconsin–Madison with a doctoral degree in cellular and molecular biology. After finishing internship at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse, she completed radiology residency and breast imaging fellowship at the Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology at Washington University in St. Louis. She joined the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health as faculty in 2013. She is board certified by the American Board of Radiology and is a Fellow of the Society of Breast Imaging (FSBI).

Dr. Fowler leads the Hormone Receptor Molecular Imaging and Biology Lab as the principal investigator. The lab focuses on advancing the use of molecular imaging to better understand the biology of breast cancer including its response to targeted drug therapies and early identification of drug resistance.
