Mohammed Bhuiyan, PhD

Mohammed Parvez Ismail Bhuiyan, PhD grew up in Comilla, Bangladesh. He obtained his master of science in organic chemistry from the University of Chittagong, Bangladesh. Dr. Bhuiyan obtained his PhD in synthetic organic and peptide chemistry from the Kyushu Institute of Technology, Japan.

Dr. Bhuiyan served as an associate professor in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Rajshahi, Bangladesh, until his appointment as a postdoctoral researcher at Henry Ford Health System in Detroit, Michigan, in 2010. Subsequently, he relocated to the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Utah State University in 2012, where he dedicated his efforts to the development of diagnostic platforms until June 2016. In July 2016, Dr. Bhuiyan joined the Department of Radiology at the University of Chicago and assumed the role of associate director of the cyclotron facility, which he held until March 2025.

In April 2025, Dr. Bhuiyan joined the University of Wisconsin Department of Radiology as the director of the Radiopharmaceutical Production Facility (RPF) as well as an associate professor in the Section of Imaging Sciences. He has done work in nanoparticle fabrication and labeling, colorimetric assay development, synthetic and organic chemistry, MRI and fluorescence imaging contrast agents, and small molecule labeling with radionuclides for imaging and therapy.
