Biography

Mark E. Sharafinski, Jr., MD, joined the UW Department of Radiology faculty in 2017 as an Assistant Professor (CHS) in the Pediatric Radiology section. After earning his Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry at University of Wisconsin–Madison, Dr. Sharafinski obtained his medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, Pittsburgh, PA. He returned to Wisconsin to complete his internship, at Wheaton Franciscan - St. Joseph Hospital, Milwaukee, WI, and his Diagnostic Radiology Residency at the Medical College of Wisconsin Affiliated Hospitals, also in Milwaukee. Dr. Sharafinski completed a fellowship in Pediatric Radiology at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, Chicago, IL, prior to joining the faculty at UW. His main area of interest is pediatric imaging, although he also has a passion for topics related to sports medicine, rheumatology, ultrasound-guided musculoskeletal procedures, and quality improvement. Dr. Sharafinski is a proud father of two beautiful girls and one handsome dog, he is also a devoted runner and hopes to be a cross-country skier someday.
