Second Year Diagnostic Radiology Residents

Kyle Lacy, MD

Kyle is originally from Starkville, Mississippi, and attended Mississippi State University, Mississippi State, MS, where he met his wife Rachel and played on the university basketball practice team. After attending the University of Mississippi for medical school, he completed an internal medicine preliminary year at the UW—Madison. Outside of work, Kyle enjoys paddle boarding with his bernedoodle, skiing, basketball, hiking, and enjoying the amazing Madison summer weather and all that downtown Madison has to offer. He has even started to enjoy the winter weather.

Matthew Larson, MD, PhD

Matt grew up in a suburb of Milwaukee, WI. He headed south to the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill for undergrad where he found a passion for research and cell biology. He returned to Wisconsin, where he joined the MSTP at UW Madison, completing his PhD in cell and molecular biology before completing his MD. He stayed on for the internal medicine preliminary year before starting his radiology residency. While in medical school, he met his wife Jenny. Together, they now live in Middleton, where they spend their free time wrangling their two kids and dog. During the summer, you’re most likely to find Matt somewhere in northern Wisconsin enjoying the outdoors by a lake if he’s not in the city. When in Madison, he’s also probably by a lake taking a walk or enjoying the Memorial Union Terrace. Or taking his kids to the fantastic free zoo (which also happens to be by a lake).

Jacob Lescher, MD

Jake grew up in Hartland, WI and attended the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee where he majored in psychology and biology with a focus in neuroscience performing research on ischemia brain injury. He took a brief “sabbatical” to pursue snowboarding in Steamboat, Colorado for a year. Following college, he moved to Washington D.C. and worked at NIH conducting traumatic brain injury research. During this time he met his wife, Arrianne, and they eventually relocated to Madison so he could attend medical school at UW. With the amazing quality of radiology training/research at UW and fantastic quality of life that Madison offers they decided to stay for residency. Outside of work, Jake enjoys climbing, road/mountain biking, cross country skiing/biathlon, snowboarding, gardening, and fly fishing in his free time.

Ece Meram, MD

Ece [A-Jay] grew up in Turkey, went to Koc University in Istanbul for medical school, and moved to Madison, WI in 2016 to do research with UW IR department. She matched into UW Radiology, did her surgery preliminary year at UW, and at some point lost her cold receptors that her Mediterranean genes used to transcribe. She finds Madison a calm, yet still fun place to live after Istanbul. She enjoys hiking, yoga, table tennis, billiards at Great Dane, reading, and watching documentaries.

Andrew Scrima, MD

Andrew grew up in Waukesha, WI, and attended the UW—Madison for both undergraduate and medical school. He returned closer to home to complete a medicine intern year at Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, WI. In his free time, Andrew enjoys taking weekend trips to his family cabin in northern Wisconsin, playing golf and tennis, board games, rooting for Wisconsin sports teams, and spending time with his wife and two cats.

Karla Wetley, MD

Karla grew up in the Madison area, and lives in an outlying neighborhood now with her husband and two children (Snow and Rambo). She is an avid runner and hiker, and knows all the best hiking spots in the area! Less strenuous hobbies include board games, choral singing, watching epic 70s/80s movies, and reading novels. She did a transitional year at St. Luke’s in Milwaukee, medical school at UW, and college at St. Olaf.
