Dr. Jeffrey P. Kanne was appointed as Associate Professor of Radiology and Vice Chair of Quality and Safety in 2009. He specializes in thoracic radiology with expertise in interstitial lung disease, transplant, congenital thoracic anomalies, and pulmonary vascular disease. Additionally, Dr. Kanne is a NIOSH-certified B-reader and has extensive experience in occupational lung disease. Other professional interests include resident and medical student education, chest CT dose reduction, and quality improvement in radiology.

Dr. Kanne is active in the Society of Thoracic Radiology serving on the Scientific Sessions and Intersociety Relations Committees. He also serves on the Maintenance of Certification Subcommittee of the American Roentgen Ray Society and is an inservice exam question writer for the American College of Radiology.

Dr. Kanne reviews manuscripts for Radiology, AJR, Respiratory Care, and Journal of Thoracic Imaging and serves on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Bronchology. He has published and nationally lectured on thoracic imaging and recently coauthored a textbook on high-resolution CT of the chest.

Personal interests include raising his two sons and daughter, camping, hiking, and early Baroque music.
