Dr. Weibo Cai is currently an Assistant Professor of Radiology
and Medical Physics at the University of Wisconsin—Madison.
Dr. Cai received a PhD degree in Chemistry from the
University of California—San Diego in 2004 under the guidance of Dr. Murray Goodman.
Afterwards, he did his post-doctoral research at the
Molecular Imaging Program at Stanford with Dr. Xiaoyuan (Shawn) Chen.
In February 2008, Dr. Cai joined the University of Wisconsin—Madison as a faculty.
Dr. Cai's research interests focus on the development of multimodality molecular
imaging agents (positron emission tomography, optical, and magnetic resonance imaging)
for early diagnosis and monitoring the efficacy of therapeutic intervention.
Another area of Dr. Cai's research will be in nanomedicine where both imaging
and therapeutic components will be integrated into a multifunctional entity.
Dr. Cai has authored more than 40 peer-reviewed publications, several book chapters,
and more than 50 conference abstracts. Dr. Cai has won many awards including the
Society of Nuclear Medicine Young Professionals Committee Best Basic Science Award
(1st Place) in 2007. He has served as a reviewer for peer–reviewed journals
including the Journal of Nuclear Medicine,
Clinical & Experimental Metastasis, and Molecular Imaging & Biology.
